Policies & Consents

Here are the answers to some frequently asked questions about how I do things. The goal of these are to ensure privacy, safety, and respect for you and our therapeutic relationship. All of this is in line with the practice standards I follow as a registered social worker. 

Cancellation Policy

Clients who provide less than 24 hours notice, or miss their appointment, will be charged in full for the booked session. A session will be considered missed if you don't arrive within 20 minutes of the start time of your booked session. 

Crisis Response

I do not provide crisis response outside of session hours. Please see the "Helplines" section of this website for a list of crisis support info, or call 911 / visit the closest emergency room if necessary.

Payment Agreement

Session fees are due on the day the session is held. Payment can be made via e-transfer or Jane App credit card payments. A receipt will be provided via e-mail.

*If you are a client via FNHA I will direct bill via FNHA for you and you will not receive a receipt as a client.

Limits of Confidentiality 

All information will be kept confidential with the exception of:

1) If there are concerns that a child/youth 18 years or younger is at risk of, or has been abused/neglected 

2) If information is shared about the intent to injure or harm another person 

3) If you are at imminent danger to yourself 

4) If a court orders a subpoena to share information

Confidentiality For Youth Sessions

Regardless of who is paying for the youth to access counselling sessions, information will be kept confidential between the youth and the counsellor. With the exception of the above 4 limits of confidentiality, or consent given by youth.

Privacy and Electronic Records

Client records are stored digitally within the Jane App platform, which is Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) compliant. Client records will be kept and deleted as per the BC Social Work Standards.
